Google Business Profile Posts and Photos: A Monthly Routine That Works
Most businesses claim their Google Business Profile, fill it out once, and never touch it again. Meanwhile the competitor posting weekly is accumulating both ranking signals and conversion advantages. Here is a routine that takes about an hour a month.
Weekly: One Post
Posts appear directly in your profile and signal an active business. Rotate between offers, events, new services, and useful tips. Keep them short, include one clear image and one action button. Standard posts expire, so consistency matters more than perfection.
Monthly: Five to Ten Photos
Real photos of real work, your team, your space, and your products. Profiles with frequent photo activity receive substantially more requests for directions and website clicks. Phone photos in decent light are fine — authenticity outperforms polish here.
Quarterly: Audit Every Field
Categories, services with descriptions, attributes, business description, and the products section. Google adds new fields regularly and each one you complete adds relevance.
Always: Hours and Special Hours
Set holiday hours before every holiday. Nothing damages a local business more directly than a customer driving to a closed door your profile said was open.
Use the Q&A Section Proactively
You can post and answer your own questions. Seed the five questions you get most often with clear answers. This is prime, underused real estate that appears prominently on your profile.
Turn On Messaging Only If You Will Answer
Response time is visible and tracked. An unanswered message is worse than no messaging option at all.
Review Your Insights Monthly
Track calls, direction requests, website clicks, and the search terms that surfaced you. These four numbers tell you more about your local visibility than any ranking report.
